The Alaska Book Nook Booth
Realistically, our Booth will not raise enough funds through the co-op sale of Title Space or Featured Authors to pay for the Booth Building. Last year, over $4,000 came out of Sharon Aubrey's own pocket to pay for the building, not counting the endless hours of carpentry work. Title space covered the space rental for the ground at the Fair, the move of the initial building, and some of the renovations, but it was not enough to cover the actual building itself or other repairs. The Alaska Book Nook Booth is not designed to make large profits for AlaskanBooks.com or Relevant Publishers LLC. Instead, our goal is promote local Alaskan authors and illustrators, increasing awareness of Alaskan books to the public and helping increase literacy in our community.
Because authors keep all the revenues generated from the sale of their books, minus any credit card processing fees, we need your help to make the Alaskan Book Nook Booth Building possible again in 2020. Sharon and her team are willing to do all the hard carpentry work to build the structure but will need about $5,000 in supplies and another $1,000 to move the building and porch into place. We need to raise this money before June to allow time for construction.
Thankfully, the Alaska Historical Publication Association, a local 501(c)(3), has partnered to help us build Alaska's Book Nook Booth Building by serving as a nonprofit for donations to be received on behalf of the Alaska Books Booth project. All donations made via AHPA are tax deductible, see the letter below. Please send your check directly to Alaska Historical Publication Association and note it is to be used for Alaska's Book Nook Booth Project at the State Fair.
